November a Month to Remember for Hayes
Last month the Dons found their feet again in the league. After a disappointing October the team took 7 points from a possible 9 with home wins against Dundee United and Ross County coming either side of a draw in Hamilton. Despite the odd defensive lapse the Reds found results thanks to their sharp, incisive attacking play.
Crucial to this goalscoring form was your Top Don for November, Jonny Hayes.
Jonny was at the heart of most the good work the Dons did in the final third. In his man of the match performance against Dundee United at Pittodrie, it was Hayes’s cross that eventually looped up for Adam Rooney to head home, before the winger himself added a brilliant second with a low drive into the bottom corner.
He added a second November goal in the win versus Ross County. Fortuitous but deserved, his second half cross floating over the goalkeeper and in the back of the net to make it 2-1.
Over the three games Jonny was a constant threat, regularly beating full backs and delivering an exceptional variety of crosses. He coupled this with his usual tremendous workrate.
Jonny took the vote with relative ease. Here’s the top three:
1. Jonny Hayes – 43% of the vote
2. Niall McGinn – 24%
3. Willo Flood – 15%
Adam Rooney, Andy Considine, Ash Taylor, Danny Ward, Graeme Shinnie, Kenny McLean, Peter Pawlett, Ryan Jack and Shay Logan all received nominations.
At the end of the season we’ll gather the results of the monthly polls to reveal who is your DST Player of the Year.
