Saturday’s Flag/Banner Display

DST has contacted AFC to express disappointment at the situation which led to the confiscation of flags and banners in the Richard Donald Stand before Saturday’s game versus Kilmarnock.

We felt it important, also, to stress that this is not the first time such an incident has occurred within the stadium.

Senior staff at the club and, indeed, match-going supporters have expressed disappointment at the atmosphere at Pittodrie. Although the club has been increasingly receptive to display organisers in recent years, issues with matchday security remain. This should be avoidable through agreement between the club and security staff.

The club can be credited with reaching out to the supporters directly affected before Saturday’s game via social media, and reviewing the incident. However, this could be followed up with clear guidelines – agreed by the club and security and made available to supporters via the ground regulations, spectators safety policy and/or the supporters charter.

It is with hope that AFC can act swiftly in this matter and encourage supporters to bring colour and noise to Pittodrie in upcoming home fixtures.
